Unit price
A price per unit of work, per square foot, per linear foot, per sheet, used when the final quantity is not known yet.
Unit pricing is how trades handle the part of a job they cannot count in advance. Decking replaced at $95 a sheet, fascia at $14 a foot, extra outlets at $150 each. The bid states the unit price and the customer knows what the surprises will cost before they happen.
It also makes a bid comparable: a customer can see what another contractor charges per square and understand the difference.
