Fixed price
One price for the whole scope, regardless of how many hours it takes. The customer's preferred way to buy.
A fixed-price bid puts the risk of hours on the contractor and gives the customer certainty. It works when the scope is clear and the contractor knows the job. It is how most residential work is sold, and it is where a contractor who is fast and good makes the most money.
The protection on a fixed price is the scope and the exclusions. Fixed means fixed for what is written; anything found behind the wall is a change order.
