Receipt
Confirmation that a payment was received, for the customer's records.
A receipt closes the loop: the customer paid, here is proof. It matters for deposits paid in cash, for anyone who will claim the work on taxes or insurance, and for any job where a dispute could come up later.
When a payment comes through a card link the receipt is automatic. For cash, check or an app, the contractor records the payment and sends one. It takes a minute and it is the thing the customer asks for in April.
