Linear foot
Length only, with no width: how fence, gutter, trim, baseboard and countertop are measured and priced.
A linear foot is a foot along a line. Fences, gutters, baseboards, crown, counters, and pipe runs are counted this way because the width is fixed by the product. Price per linear foot is the trade's unit for all of them.
Not to be confused with a square foot, which has width. A 20-foot wall is 20 linear feet of baseboard and 160 square feet of paint.
