The things a bid specifically says are not included, so the customer does not assume they are.

Exclusions are the scope's shadow: paint not included, drywall repair by others, permit fees paid by owner, haul-away not included. One or two lines that name what the customer is likely to assume.

Every trade has its usual ones. Electricians exclude drywall patching, painters exclude moving furniture, flooring installers exclude subfloor repair. Writing yours on every bid costs nothing and saves the one conversation nobody enjoys.
