Tree removal estimate example
The stump, the wood, and the yard. Three things customers assume and three lines that settle it.
"remove 1 dead oak approx 40 ft back yard, climb and piece down over fence, grind stump 6 in below grade, haul all wood and brush, chips left if wanted, fence and lawn protected"
Example figures for a typical tree removal job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a tree removal bid
- Which tree. Species, size, and where it stands.
- Stump: ground, flush cut, or left. And how deep.
- Wood hauled, stacked, or left. Chips left or hauled.
- That ruts, a dropped limb, or a bent fence picket are possible and will be made right.
Say where the crane or the bucket truck will sit and that ruts in the yard are possible. It is the thing customers call about after.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 6 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $2,300. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 1 day. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. 25% upfront, balance on completion. The $575 deposit is paid by card when they sign.
- Warranty. Cleanup and lawn made right.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions tree service contractors ask about this bid
Why a deposit?
A crane or a crew is scheduled for this job. A quarter down keeps the date real. Many tree services skip it on small removals.
Can I say the stump is extra?
Yes. Put it as a separate line with its own price, or as not included.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
