Stump grinding estimate example
Priced by the inch and argued over the chips. Say what is left in the hole.
"grind 3 stumps, 24 in 18 in and 12 in, 6 in below grade, chips raked into holes, no haul, no topsoil, call 811 before"
Example figures for a typical stump grinding job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a stump grinding bid
- Each stump by diameter at the ground.
- Depth below grade. Six inches for lawn, deeper for a new tree or a fence post.
- Chips raked in, hauled, or left in a pile. Topsoil and seed as an option.
- That underground lines are located first and that surface roots beyond the stump are extra.
Say where the crane or the bucket truck will sit and that ruts in the yard are possible. It is the thing customers call about after.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $380. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 2 hours. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. Due on completion. Nothing down. The customer pays when the work is done.
- Warranty. None stated.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions tree service contractors ask about this bid
Should I offer topsoil and seed?
As an option with a price. Most customers want the hole gone, not just the stump.
Warranty?
There is nothing to warranty on a stump. Leave it blank or say so.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
