Tile floor estimate example
Small room, lots of details. Pattern, offset, and what the tile runs under are the lines that matter.
"master bath floor 90 sq ft, remove old tile, cement board, new 12x24 porcelain customer supplies, 1/3 offset, grout customer picks color, caulk at tub and walls, remove and reset toilet with new wax ring, haul off"
Example figures for a typical tile floor job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a tile floor bid
- Tile size and the pattern, because a herringbone is twice the labor of a straight lay.
- Underlayment type.
- What is removed and reset: toilet, vanity, baseboards.
- That large-format tile needs a flat floor and what happens if it is not.
A material deposit at signing covers the special order before you place it.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $1,850. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 3 days. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. 50% upfront, 50% on completion. The $925 deposit is paid by card when they sign.
- Warranty. 1 year on labor and workmanship.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions flooring installers ask about this bid
Should I include the toilet reset?
Yes, name it. It is expected and it is the thing that leaks if nobody owns it.
Customer-supplied tile?
Say the price assumes the tile is on site before day one, and that you need 10% extra.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
