Luxury vinyl plank estimate example
The floor under the floor is what kills these bids. Say what prep is included and what happens if the subfloor is bad.
"LVP 850 sq ft living dining hall, remove carpet and pad and tack strips, haul off, floor prep minor, customer supplies flooring and underlayment, new quarter round painted white, transitions at tile, furniture moved by customer"
Example figures for a typical luxury vinyl plank job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a luxury vinyl plank bid
- Square footage and the rooms.
- What comes out and whether it is hauled.
- Who supplies the flooring, and that you need 10% extra for cuts.
- Prep: what is included, and that leveling is quoted after tear-out.
A material deposit at signing covers the special order before you place it.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $2,975. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 2 days. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. 50% upfront, 50% on completion. The $1,487 deposit is paid by card when they sign.
- Warranty. 1 year on labor and workmanship.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions flooring installers ask about this bid
Should I quote the subfloor before I see it?
No. Put a line on the bid that leveling is quoted after the old floor is up, with a per-bag or per-sheet price if you can.
Customer-supplied material?
Say it, and say the warranty covers your labor, not their product.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
