Storm damage repair estimate example
Repairs are small money and big expectations. The color match line saves more arguments than anything else on the page.
"hail damage, replace approx 40 shingles on south and west slopes, reseal exposed nails, replace 2 pipe boots, reset loose ridge cap, match existing 30yr shingle as close as possible, photos before and after"
Example figures for a typical storm damage repair job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a storm damage repair bid
- That the color match is as close as available, not exact.
- The count of shingles or the area, so the customer sees the limit of the repair.
- That the repair covers the listed areas and does not warranty the rest of the roof.
- If insurance is involved, the claim number and that supplements go through the adjuster.
On an insurance job, put the claim number on the proposal and say how supplements are handled. Note that the schedule depends on weather.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $1,650. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 1 day. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. Due on completion. Nothing down. The customer pays when the work is done.
- Warranty. 1 year on the repaired areas.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions roofers ask about this bid
Should I warranty the whole roof after a repair?
No. Warranty the repaired areas only and say so. The rest of the roof is the age it is.
Insurance job: who do I bill?
Bill the homeowner, reference the claim number on the bid, and say that any supplement is submitted to the adjuster, not charged to them.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
