Irrigation install estimate example
Zones, heads, and the backflow are what the inspector and the customer both ask about. Put them all on the bid.
"new sprinkler system front and back approx 6000 sq ft, 6 zones, rotors in turf, spray heads in beds, drip for front beds, 1 in pvc mains, wifi controller, backflow preventer, permit and locate, sod repair over trenches"
Example figures for a typical irrigation install job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a irrigation install bid
- Zone count and head types by area.
- The backflow preventer and who tests it.
- What the yard looks like after: trenches backfilled and sod replaced, or not.
- Controller brand and that you set it up on their phone.
Call for a utility locate before digging and say so on the bid. It shows the customer you have done this before.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $4,800. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 2 days. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. 50% upfront, 50% on completion. The $2,400 deposit is paid by card when they sign.
- Warranty. 2 years on parts and labor.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions landscapers ask about this bid
Do I need a permit for irrigation?
Most cities require one because of the backflow preventer. Include it on the bid.
What about the water meter size?
Say the price assumes the existing meter and pressure are adequate, and that a pressure test is done first.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
