Drywall repair estimate example
Drywall is three visits for mud to dry. Put that on the bid or the customer thinks you forgot about them.
"repair water damaged ceiling in laundry approx 4x6, cut out, replace 1/2 drywall, tape mud sand, match knockdown texture, prime and paint ceiling flat white, leak already fixed by plumber"
Example figures for a typical drywall repair job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a drywall repair bid
- Size of the repair and the sheet thickness.
- Texture match, as close as possible, not exact.
- Whether you paint the patch or the whole ceiling. Patches show. Whole ceilings do not.
- That the price assumes the cause is fixed and the framing is dry.
Say plainly that licensed trade work is not included where your state requires a license for it.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $650. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 3 visits over 4 days. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. Due on completion. Nothing down. The customer pays when the work is done.
- Warranty. 1 year on workmanship.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions handymen and remodelers ask about this bid
Should I paint the whole ceiling?
Say which on the bid. A patch-only paint almost always shows, and the customer will call.
Mold?
Put a line that if mold is found behind the drywall, work stops and the customer is told before anything else is done.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
