Cabinet painting estimate example
The customer is comparing this to new cabinets. The bid should read like a process, because the process is the product.
"kitchen cabinets 32 doors 14 drawers, remove doors and drawers, degrease, sand, bond primer, 2 coats cabinet enamel sprayed in shop, boxes sprayed on site, new hinges customer supplies, 1 color white"
Example figures for a typical cabinet painting job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a cabinet painting bid
- Door and drawer count. It is the whole price.
- Spray versus brush, and where each happens.
- Hardware: who supplies it and whether holes are filled and redrilled.
- How long the kitchen is unusable.
Most painting arguments are about prep and about what was not included. Write both down and they do not happen.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $4,200. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 7 days. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. 50% upfront, 50% on completion. The $2,100 deposit is paid by card when they sign.
- Warranty. 2 years on the finish.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions painters ask about this bid
Should I warranty the finish?
Yes, for a stated period, with the normal exclusion for damage. A finish warranty is why they pick a pro over a weekend.
Interior of the boxes?
Say whether the inside of the cabinet boxes is painted. Most bids do the face frames and the door fronts and backs only.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
