Siding repair and match estimate example
A repair is a match problem. Say "as close as available" twice: once for the profile, once for the paint.
"replace approx 120 sq ft damaged lap siding rear corner from woodpecker and rot, match profile as close as available, new wrap and flashing at repair, prime and paint to match best effort, haul"
Example figures for a typical siding repair and match job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a siding repair and match bid
- The area and where it is, so the whole wall is not expected.
- That the profile is matched as close as available, and discontinued profiles may differ.
- Paint match as best effort against weathered siding.
- What is behind it, and the rate if the sheathing is rotten too.
Rotten sheathing is the surprise. Put a per-sheet price on the bid and say photos are sent before it is replaced.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $1,650. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 2 days. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. 50% upfront, 50% on completion. The $825 deposit is paid by card when they sign.
- Warranty. 2 years on workmanship.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions siding contractors ask about this bid
Paint the whole wall?
Offer it as an option. A patch painted alone on a sun-faded wall will show.
Deposit?
Half covers the material, which is bought for this repair.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
