Septic tank replacement estimate example
A tank swap on a field that is assumed good. Say that assumption out loud.
"replace cracked 1000 gal concrete tank w new 1000 gal, pump and dispose old, new risers and lids to grade, new inlet outlet baffles, reconnect to existing field, permit incl, rough grade"
Example figures for a typical septic tank replacement job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a septic tank replacement bid
- Tank size and material, and that it matches the permit.
- That the drain field is reused and not warranted by you.
- Risers to grade, so the next pump-out does not need a shovel.
- Rough grade, and what happens to the driveway or the fence if the crane needs them moved.
The county inspection schedule drives the timeline. Put it on the bid so the customer is not calling on day three asking why there is a hole in the yard.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 6 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $6,400. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 2 days, plus inspection. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. 50% upfront, 50% on passed inspection. The $3,200 deposit is paid by card when they sign.
- Warranty. 1 year on workmanship, manufacturer warranty on the tank.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions septic contractors ask about this bid
Should I warranty the field?
No. You did not build it. Say the field is reused as-is and that a failing field is a separate job.
Deposit?
Half. The tank is delivered to the site and is not returnable.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
