Fascia and soffit repair estimate example
The job that starts as a gutter call and ends as carpentry. Say what wood is replaced and what happens if the rot goes farther than it looks.
"replace rotten fascia approx 40 lf back of house, 2 sections soffit 8 ft each, prime and paint to match, remove and reinstall gutter on that run, haul debris"
Example figures for a typical fascia and soffit repair job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a fascia and soffit repair bid
- Footage of fascia and the number and size of soffit panels.
- Material: primed pine, PVC, or fiber cement, and that it is painted to match as close as possible.
- That rafter tails or sheathing found rotten behind the fascia are extra at a stated rate.
- That the gutter is reused, not replaced.
Rotten fascia found behind the old gutter is the common surprise. Put a per-foot price on the bid so you do not have to stop and renegotiate.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $1,350. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 1 day. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. Due on completion. Nothing down. The customer pays when the work is done.
- Warranty. 2 years on workmanship.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions gutter installers ask about this bid
Should I quote the whole house?
Quote what you can see. Put a per-foot rate on the bid for more rot found once the gutter is off.
Paint match?
Say "as close as available" unless the customer gives you the color code. Sun-faded trim does not match a fresh can.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
