EV charger circuit estimate example
A simple job that goes wrong on the bid when the run length or the panel capacity was never checked.
"install 50a circuit for level 2 ev charger in garage, approx 40 ft run from panel, 6/3 nm, nema 14-50 outlet, 2 pole breaker, customer supplies charger, permit"
Example figures for a typical ev charger circuit job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a ev charger circuit bid
- The run length and the route. Through a finished wall costs more than along a garage ceiling.
- That the panel has capacity, or that a load calculation is included.
- Outlet versus hardwired, and the charger brand if you are supplying it.
- Whether drywall patching is included if the run goes through finished space.
Most panel and service work needs a permit and an inspection. Put the inspection timing on the bid so the customer knows the power schedule.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 4 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $1,150. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. Half a day. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. Due on completion. Nothing down. The customer pays when the work is done.
- Warranty. 1 year on all labor and workmanship.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions electricians ask about this bid
Do I need a deposit for a one-day job?
Usually not. Due on completion keeps it simple, and the customer signs faster.
What if the panel is full?
Say on the bid what happens: a tandem breaker, a subpanel, or a panel upgrade at a stated price.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
