Drywall patch and texture estimate example
The small job that comes back as a complaint when the customer expected paint. Three lines on the bid prevent it.
"3 patches living room from plumbing access, largest 2x3 ft, tape float texture to match knockdown, prime only no paint"
Example figures for a typical drywall patch and texture job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a drywall patch and texture bid
- Patch count and size, so a fourth hole found later is a new line.
- That the texture is a match as close as the method allows, not invisible.
- Prime only, or primed and painted, in those words.
- Two visits, because mud has to dry.
The argument on a drywall job is almost always about paint. Say in plain words whether the wall leaves primed, painted, or just finished.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 4 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $425. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 2 visits over 2 days. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. Due on completion. Nothing down. The customer pays when the work is done.
- Warranty. 1 year on workmanship.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions drywall contractors ask about this bid
Should I paint it?
If you do, say it and price it. If you do not, say "prime only" so the customer knows the wall is still their job.
Deposit on a small patch?
No. Due on completion keeps it simple and the customer signs faster.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
