Whole-house repipe estimate example
A repipe touches every room, so the bid is as much about the walls as the pipes.
"2 bath 1 story 1800 sq ft repipe in pex, replace all supply lines, new shutoffs at every fixture, new main shutoff, drywall cuts patched not textured or painted, permit"
Example figures for a typical whole-house repipe job. Not a quote. Every line on the estimate came from the notes above. Nothing was added.
What to spell out on a whole-house repipe bid
- Pipe material and that every fixture gets a new shutoff.
- Exactly what happens to the drywall: patched, textured, painted, or left open.
- How long the water is off and whether they can stay in the house.
- Whether the water heater connections and the hose bibs are included.
Water heater and repipe work often needs a permit. Say on the bid who pulls it and whether the fee is in your price.
The parts of this estimate
- Scope of work. 5 lines, one thing each, in the order the work happens. What is not included is on the list too.
- One price. $8,900. Not a formula, not a range. The scope explains the number.
- Timeline. 3 days. Including dry time, cure time, or permit time, so the customer plans around it.
- Payment terms. 50% upfront, 50% on completion. The $4,450 deposit is paid by card when they sign.
- Warranty. 10 years on the PEX system and workmanship.
- A way to accept. The customer types their name and signs with a finger on their phone. Legally binding under the E-SIGN Act, and recorded with the date, time, and the exact estimate they agreed to.
Questions plumbers ask about this bid
Should drywall repair be on the plumbing bid?
Say what you do in plain words. Most plumbers patch flush and leave texture and paint to the customer or a painter. Written down, it is not an argument.
Why a 10-year warranty?
PEX repipes are reliable and a long warranty is a selling point. Match it to the manufacturer and your own comfort.
Is this a real quote?
No. The numbers are example figures for a typical job so you can see how a complete estimate reads. Your price is yours.
Can my customer sign this on their phone?
Yes. An estimate sent from BidWriter Pro opens as a link. The customer reads it, types their name, signs with a finger, and pays the deposit by card. You get an alert when they open it and when they sign.
